Hairstyle Trends for Fall & Winter 2009, 2010
When autumn rolls around, many of us have a desire for change. Whether it's drastic or subtle, one thing's for sure -- we want a change for the better. The latest trends for fall & winter 2009-2010 will distinguish a variety of hairstyles and cuts, many of them inspired by celebrities.
Length & Cut
What's different this fall is that short hair is just as trendy as long tresses. Whatever your preferred length, volume is essential. Texturing gives movement. Layered, razor-cut styles allow for wispy, sexy strands. Ends are casually flipped under or over (but not curled) using a blow dryer, paddle brush, and/or flat iron. Uneven, chunky layers look chic on shoulder-length, long and ultra-long hair.
Hairstyles & Color
Popular, shoulder length hair with waves and curls allow hair to fall naturally and compliment your face. Change is in the air. Deep brunette and auburn colors set the trend for fall and winter hair color, while a classic blond may wish to add some subtle lowlights for depth and dimension.
"Big" hair is making a comeback but you won't see the excessive volume that was popular in the 1980's. A trendy compromise is a wavy, tousled look that is easy to achieve with hot rollers or a 1-1/2-inch, wide barreled curling iron. Finger combing assures the pieces stay together. For sex-appeal you can give your roots a boost by applying a root lifter and blow-drying your hair while holding it upwards, focusing on the roots only.
Shiny, sleek hair is always flattering and brings a healthy look. With no fly-aways, this allows for great pictures during the holiday season. This is easier to achieve in the fall and winter months because there's less humidity that can frizz out your otherwise sleek tresses. Use a flat iron to straighten out natural waves, section by section. Set the style with hairspray to ensure your hair stays straight all day long.
Bangs
Not only are bangs stylish, they conceal a high forehead and unwanted lines. Side-swept bangs are sophisticated while flirty, wispy bangs hang naturally. Punk hairstyle trends call for piecey chunks that are easily separated with pomade or gel. For a modern city look, angled bangs will set you apart in a crowd.
Highlights
Whatever the season, highlights are always stylish. Thin or chunky, highlights and lowlights reveal a multi-color dimension to your hair that's a real eye-catcher. For the daring, copper, red and chocolate shades portray the playfulness and sexy side that adds just the perfect pizzazz to beat the winter doldrums.

Big Hair.
Maybe it started with Kristen Wiig's Jilly, the incorrigible third grader that the comedienne portrays on Saturday Night Live, but now it seems as if the puffy, fluffy 'fro is making a comeback. Louis Vuitton's models sported outsized versions on the Spring 2010 runway, complete with Jilly-style bows. And the TIGI International Creative Team offers a wearable take on the look in the Unity collection. Back in the day, this style was also known as the "natural" and that's the message here-it's an exciting time to explore your clients' natural textures and provide cuts, shapes and styling techniques designed to celebrate what makes each one truly individual.Brought to you by - behindthechair.com

Let's face it...we're all facing hard times with the current economic state. I've heard news stories about how people are really tightening their budgets, cutting out unneccessary spending, and even *gasp* taking their haircare into their own hands. I'm here to let you know Lasting Impression understands your needs and is willing to work with you. If you want to continue looking great...and being economical...read on...
First, how is your cut? If you normally come in every few weeks and want to try stretching it out a bit, consult with your stylist. She'll be able to make recommendations on a style that will work with your new schedule. Perhaps something a little longer that will still work great with your frame - and that won't drive you crazy. Check out hot hairstyles for fall.
Next, how is your color? We've all heard about the bronde craze - and it just might be the perfect fit for you. The blonde + brown combination will let you get closer to your natural color, without losing depth and dimension. Whatever you like, our stylists can work with you to find a color that might need less maintenance to get you through these difficult times looking great.
Finally, don't try to do your hair at home. Please, save yourself the cost of a corrective color or the pain of a redo 'do and let us take care of you. In this economy, you may be tempted to try store bought haircolor or take scissors to your (or your family's) hair. Resist the temptation! Call us and tell us about your situation. We're here to help!
And on a last note - accept no imitation for a beauty professional. Beware of the kitchen beautician!

The Benefits of Your Lasting Impression TEAM
If you've ever tried to make an appointment with your stylist only to find out she's booked out for weeks, you'll appreciate the team at Lasting Impression.
Lasting Impression is a team based salon, which benefits both employees and guests.
The premise is simple. Every member of the Lasting Impression team is focused on serving the guests and building the business. Guests don't 'belong' to one stylist, any stylist can serve them. Skill certification ensures that the services are performed with the same quality with every guest, and that each stylist has a mapped out growth plan. As the team hits certian milestones, they are rewarded.
"We converted over 10 years ago to a team-based pay system, which was nearly unheard of in the undustry at that time." said Mary Walker, owner. "However, I felt it was necessary to stick to our mission of being the best of the best and servicing each guest with the same high quality, while also allowing my staff to truly see their progress and growth mapped out."
"Team-based pay is the next generation of rewarding staff for team excellence and serving the customer to the highest level," agrees Neil Ducoff, founder/CEO of Strategies, a Connecticut-based company that assisted with the transition. "This truly focuses the team on best serving the customer."
Enjoy the benefits of a true team at your service!

Hollywood's Summer Style
Liv Tyler’s shoulder-grazing bob is one of the best style choices this summer—it’s simple, modern and versatile. Style it straight and it’s modern and sleek; finished in soft waves, it’s ready to party. To cut, advises Aaron Grenia, Senior Stylist at PrivĂ© Salon, create the bob shape, then chip into the ends to break up the solid line. To create soft waves, blow dry the hair with a medium round brush until the hair is soft and smooth. Use a 1-inch barrel curling iron to create the wavy, messy look. Run fingers through the hair to break up the waves and finish with a texturizing spray. Brought to you by: BehindTheChair.com

How to Get Beach Curly Hair
You don't have to go to the beach to get soft, sexy waves. First apply Aveda's Volumizing Tonic to your root. Blow dry your hair upside down. After hair is about half dry arrange your hair how you want. Taking small (1 inch or less) sections; mist with Aveda's Air Control Hair Spray and roll hair around a curling iron. The smaller the iron, the tighter the curl. Gently remove each tentril from the iron and secure with a clip or bobby pin. After hair has cooled completely, release clips and use fingers to pull out curls. Finally spray again with Aveda's Air Control. To protect your hair from the sun's UV rays use a couple of sprays of Aveda's NEW Protective Hair Veil and enjoy your day!
